Artist statement



It seems that, in the reality of today, all our feelings are being repressed into one superficial façade. This façade allows only one type of beauty to imply on perfection.



But there is a different existence, in which all of our immediate needs and desires are shown, one where imperfection is, in fact, perfection.
It is a space where everything that defines us as human beings is intensely put together. In these photographic scenes our pain, vulnerability, desires and fears are shown through distorted bodies and absurd situations.



I am looking for this different perfection of humanity and this space where one can leave the standard representation of the portrait image, a game that uses contact with the functions of objects to imply a search, a test and a discovery of various thresholds' of the senses. I take interest in exposing this different existence thorough the drama of being.



There are thousands of moments, thorough our everyday lives, which make us aware to our senses. I am looking to find these moments in the ordinary things that fill our lives, such as our emotions, events at work or with our family, happiness and unhappiness in relationships, a cuisine with the man you love or a lonely supper on a holiday. There are various combinations of local and general history in our life.



For me, to make photography is to look for an existence, a story in everything, to transform moments that I see, think, feel and dream into a visual representation. It is a kind of speech, a dialog between me and the whole world. It is the reflection of my thoughts and experiences, my reaction and position towards different events.



In this form of art, staged photography allows me more control to make the occurrence sharper, to create a reality on the set like a sculpture, where you can feel every detail, where 1/60 sec. of exposure is transformed to something permanent. It is to compress life into a single everyday situation, and turn emotion and feeling into an object.
