RESSLER KUNST AUKTIONEN – A New Auction House in Vienna
RESSLER KUNST AUKTIONEN GMBH presents its first auction: on March 2, 2015 high-class works of contemporary art and classical modernism will be auctioned at the former Anker Bread Factory at Absberggasse 27. The Bread Factory has long become a center of contemporary artistic production in Vienna, housing a dozen galleries, artists’ studios and collectors’ depots.
In the exhibition space of the Galerie OstLicht, 167 works representing a value of at least 2 million Euros will be offered, starting on February 25. As befits the location, there will be a small but high-class selection of photographs: for example Cindy Sherman’s Film Still #83, a silver gelatine print dated 1980, which will start at € 70,000. The photograph has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, at the Contemporary Art Museum in Los Angeles and most recently at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
A series of 10 silver gelatine prints from Ed Ruscha’s series of Gasoline Stations is also sure to catch the collector’s eye. The offering price is also € 70,000. The portfolio was assembled in 1989; the photographs were taken in 1962.
Austrian photographers will also be found at the auction, for example works by Birgit Jürgenssen including the chromogenic print Rotes Bad (opening bid € 5,000) and by Eva Schlegel, whose large-format lambda prints start at € 4,000 each.
However, the auction includes not only photographs. The artists represented range from Franz West to Hermann Nitsch, from Arnulf Rainer to Maria Lassnig and from Herbert Brandl to Erwin Wurm.

RESSLER KUNST AUKTIONEN – ein neues Auktionshaus in Wien
Die RESSLER KUNST AUKTIONEN GMBH präsentiert ihre 1. Auktion: Am 2.
