Malmö Photobiennial 2017 is pleased to mark the 50th anniversary of "The society of the Spectacle", the French philosopher Guy Debords still relevant essay from 1967.

Debords idea of art and images as part of the "spectacle", that has taken over the very meaning of our lives and deprived us from our experience of social relations and lived lives, feels more relevant than ever in our modern times. With our way of massproducing images in social media, commercially and in the newsflow, shaping the whole world into the same costume. "All that once was directly lived has become mere representation."

The 8th Malmö Photobiennial will be held 9-18 June in several locations in Malmö City and neraby cities. Featuring several art-institutions, galleries and presenting both up-coming and established photographers.
