Photography from a female perspective and a Masterclass "Stadt-Geschichten"

30 workshops and lectures make up the programme of the FFF Academy 2020. Highlight in summer: a photo excursion to Sicily. The focus at the beginning of the year is on internationally renowned female photographers and the female gaze in photography.

Women in photography, renowned female photographers and the female gaze will shape the programme of the FFF Academy in the first months of the new year 2020. In her workshop "UNFAMILIAR/FAMILIAR" at the beginning of February, World Press Photo winner Simona Ghizzoni (IT) deals with the question of how photography can create personal closeness and intimacy. Photography has often been a kind of therapy for her, says the Italian photographer, who deals with her psyche and inner worlds. She became internationally known with "Odd Days", a work about eating disorders and the self-portrait series "Rayuela" about the ambivalent relationship between man and nature.
Workshop, Saturday, 1 February, 10am–5pm

Alessandra Capodacqua (IT), experienced and accomplished smartphone photographer for many years, conveys in her workshop "THE ART OF MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY" a wealth of know-how and tips on taking pictures with the smartphone camera and on how to use image editing apps. In addition, the Italian photo artist and curator shows how to produce high-quality artistic images with iPhone or Android devices.
Workshop, Sunday, 2 February, 10am–6pm

Donata Pizzi, Italian photographer as well passionate collector, will give numerous guided tours and two lectures about "COLLEZIONE DONATA PIZZI", one of the few collections worldwide with works exclusively by women photographers. To date, Pizzi has collected more than 200 works by some 70 female Italian photographers from 1965 to the present day. The collection encompasses a wide range of conceptual and artistic positions, reflects contemporary history as seen from a female perspective, and uses numerous examples to illustrate aesthetic, iconographic and technological developments within the history of photography.
Lectures, 1 February and 14 March, each 6pm.
Around 150 works from the "Collezione Donata Pizzi" will be shown at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF) from 1 February - 26 April 2020 in the exhibition RESISTANCE & SENSIBILITY. The show focuses on the lives of women. Expressive photographic moments of female diversity, women behind the camera and five decades of photography are on display.

Starting in February, Heinrich Voelkel (DE), multiple award-winning Ostkreuz photographer, will explore photographic narratives about the city with a Masterclass at the FFF Academy, observing "STADT-GESCHICHTEN" / the "TALES OF THE CITY". In four meetings, the participants will deal with urban space, its inhabitants, its architecture and its spheres – telling the stories with pictures.

"CRITICAL LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY" is the topic of the workshop of the renowned photographer Olaf Otto Becker (DE) at the end of April. Over two weekends, the workshop will focus on the conception and production of your own series, as well as tackling questions about working the landscape with large format cameras, medium and small formats and digital techniques.

Workshops with Delphine Bedel (FR), Uwe H. Martin (DE), Alison Nordström (US), Emily Schiffer (US) and many others will follow in theyear. As a highlight of the summer programme, a photo-workshop excursion to Sicily with renowned female photographers is planned.

The programme of the FFF Academy 2020 includes 30 workshops and lectures as well as various events, which will again convey current positions and issues in photography. The workshops, most of which last two days, focus on dialogue and practice. The lecturers are internationally renowned photographers who discuss the participants' work on the basis of the respective topic and develop ideas and concepts for photographic projects together with them.

Fotografie aus weiblicher Sicht und Masterclass "Stadt-Geschichten"

Gut 30 Workshops und Vorträge stehen auf dem Programm der FFF Akademie 2020. Ein Höhepunkt im Sommer ist eine Foto-Exkursion nach Sizilien. Im Fokus zu Jahresbeginn: international renommierte Fotografinnen und der weibliche Blick in der Fotografie.

Frauen (in) der Fotografie, renommierte Fotografinnen und der weibliche Blick prägen das Programm der FFF Akademie in den ersten Monaten des neuen Jahres 2020. Mit der Frage, wie Fotografie persönliche Nähe und Intimität schaffen kann, beschäftigt sich Anfang Februar World-Press-Photo-Gewinnerin Simona Ghizzoni in ihrem Workshop "UNFAMILIAR/FAMILIAR". Fotografie sei für sie selbst oft eine Art Therapie gewesen, sagt die italienische Fotografin, die sich thematisch mit Psyche und Innenwelten beschäftigt. International bekannt wurde sie mit Odd Days, einer Arbeit über Essstörungen und der Selbstporträtserie Rayuela über die ambivalente Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur.

Alessandra Capodacqua, seit vielen Jahren erfahrene und versierte Smartphone-Fotografin, vermittelt in ihrem Workshop "THE ART OF MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY" eine Fülle Know-how und Tipps zum Fotografieren mit der Smartphone-Kamera und zum Umgang mit Bildbearbeitungs-Apps. Außerdem zeigt die italienische Fotokünstlerin und Kuratorin, wie man mit iPhone oder Android-Geräten hochwertige künstlerische Bilder produzieren kann.

Donata Pizzi, ebenfalls italienische Fotografin und leidenschaftliche Sammlerin, stellt in verschiedenen Führungen und Vorträgen ihre 2014 gegründete "COLLEZIONE DONATA PIZZI" vor, eine der weltweit wenigen Sammlungen mit Werken ausschließlich von Fotografinnen. Zusammengetragen hat Pizzi bisher mehr als 200 Arbeiten von etwa 70 italienischen Fotografinnen von 1965 bis heute. Die Sammlung umfasst verschiedenste konzeptionelle und künstlerische Positionen, spiegelt Zeitgeschichte, gesehen aus weiblicher Sicht und verdeutlicht an zahlreichen Beispielen ästhetische, ikonografische und technologische Entwicklungen innerhalb der Fotografiegeschichte.
Vorträge, 1. Februar und 14. März, 18 Uhr

Auf die Suche nach "STADT-GESCHICHTEN" macht sich ab Februar der vielfach ausgezeichnete Ostkreuz-Fotograf Heinrich Voelkel mit einer Masterclass der FFF Akademie. Über insgesamt vier Termine beschäftigen sich die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer mit dem urbanen Raum, seinen Bewohnern, seiner Architektur und seinen Sphären – und mit dem Erzählen mit Bildern.

Um "KRITISCHE LANDSCHAFTSFOTOGRAFIE" geht es Ende April im Workshop des renommierten Fotografen Olaf Otto Becker. An zwei Wochenenden stehen dabei neben der Konzeption und Produktion eigener Bilder und Serien auch Fragen zur Arbeit mit der Großformatkamera, mit dem Mittel- und Kleinformat sowie digitale Techniken auf dem Programm.

Im weiteren Jahresverlauf folgen Workshops mit Delphine Bedel (FR), Uwe H. Martin (DE), Alison Nordström (US), Emily Schiffer (US) und anderen. Als Höhepunkt für das Sommerprogramm ist eine Foto- und Workshop-Exkursion nach Sizilien geplant, begleitet von renommierten Fotografinnen.

Insgesamt stehen gut 30 Workshops und Vorträge sowie verschiedene Veranstaltungen auf dem Programm der FFF Akademie 2020, die sich aktuellen Positionen und Fragestellungen der Fotografie widmen. Die meist zweitägigen Workshops setzen auf Dialog und Praxis. Die Dozentinnen und Dozenten sind international namhafte Fotografinnen und Fotografen, die auf Basis des jeweiligen Themas Arbeiten der Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer diskutieren und gemeinsam mit ihnen Ideen und Konzepte für fotografische Projekte entwickeln.
