The forthcoming exhibition Memories at °CLAIR Gallery invites you to explore the work of Russian photographer Boris Savelev. The artist’s photographs track down all those places, objects and lights both in his native country Chernivtsi (today’s Ukraine) and in the city of Moscow, thereby rediscovering the past, with the photographer observing meticulously what is left. It is an almost archaeological, sensitive search. °CLAIR is happy to welcome Boris Savelev in Munich – where the artist stays from 26th to 28th October 2011. 13 works originating in the years 1987 to 2011 form the pivot of °CLAIR’s exhibition, which have been processed in a most unusual way for a photograph: multilayered pigment print on plaster-coated aluminium plate. Today, plaster as a background is mostly associated with panels painted in former times.
