Exhibition: 16 May – 28 June, 2014

Christopher Anderson first received international attention for his documentary work from conflict zones all over the world, he is a member of Magnum since 2005. The birth of his son in 2008 was the starting point for a very personal, intimate photography project: “For many years I have traveled extensively to document the emotional experiences of others. Then shortly after the birth of our son, after the intense joy of new life, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. It is fair to say that I found myself reflecting on obvious themes of life and death, my role as a son and a father, my own life passing. An experience that is at the same time the most personal and the most universal. These photographs are an organic response to that experience. It feels like everything I ever photographed only prepared me for this project. I think this series of photographs is my most important work, they are a record of love and a reflection on the seasonal nature of life.“ (Christopher Anderson)

Christopher Anderson, born 1970 in Canada, today lives and works in Brookly, New York. His work has been widely exhibited, awarded (Robert Capa Medal, World Press, Lead Award), published (New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Newsweek, National Geographic, Vogue) and is found in major collections, both public and private. The book to the series has been published by Kehrer, Heidelberg in 2013. Previous publications were „Nonfiction“ (2003) „Capitolio“ (2009) und „Sète #12“ (2012).
