Sabine Weiss (
1924–2021) is probably the longest-standing photographer in history. She was one of the key representatives of the post-war movement that is usually referred to in France as ‘humanist photography’, and to which photographers such as Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis or Edouard Boubat belonged.

Kenta Cobayashi’s (Kanagawa, Japan, 1992) research is grounded in a conception of photography as a tool that produces unstable and constantly changeable images – the opposite of the fixed and static quality traditionally associated with the medium. Okinawa is a tropical island of Japan and a popular tourist destination, but Ryuichi Ishikawa, born and raised here, has mixed feeling about that. Okinawa, caught between the histories of Japan and China and the economies of Japan and America, is continually manipulated by disputes between countries and the pressure exerted by them.
