ZHANG HUAN AND VIK MUNIZ HIGHLIGHTED IN VERITAS AUCTION

"12 square meters” by Zhang Huan and "Mars, God of War, after Diego Velazquez/ Pictures of Junk series” by Vik Muniz will be presented at VERITAS auction next week. The evening sale taking place on 13th November features Modern & Contemporary Art + Design, comprising an interesting collection of about 30 photography works.

The color photograph by Zhang Huan has probably the most inquisitive story of all, as an outcome from the most legendary performance of his career [12m2, 1994]: naked and slathered in honey and fish oil, Zhang Huan sat steady in a public latrine during the Beijing summer, as flies flocked to his body. He would later describe it to Rong Rong [who documented the whole performance, presented only to a small group of people] as a tribute to Ai, who was made to clean filthy public toilets as a child during his father’s exile in the western Xinjiang autonomous region.
The auction includes other thought-provoking photography works as “Nova Heliópolis II” by Dionisio González and “Plot plant landscape” by Petros Chrisostomou.

Other artists featured are Daniel Canogar, Edouard Boubat, Ralph Gibson, Robert Doisneau, Tim Hailand, José Antonio Hernández-Diez, Tracey Moffatt, Concha Prada, Willy Ronis, Janaina Tschäpe, Juan Uslé and Pepe Diniz.
