photo basel is more than thrilled to announce the second edition of Switzerland’s first art fair solely dedicated to photography in June 2016.
What defines photo basel’s instant success?
It is the combination of various factors that can be summed up by the following: During June, Basel is the place to be – there is only one art fair that has a major global impact on the entire art world: Art Basel. Being parallel to that major fair and being in walking distance to it, gives photo basel the ultimate advantage in order to reach collectors, buyers, dealers, curators and art enthusiasts.
What’s new?
For the first time photo basel will now occupy the legendary Volkshaus – a compound that has been smoothly renovated by acclaimed Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. Within this new location (which is even closer, now 700 meters off Art Basel fairground), photo basel already has promising plans to create a super hub for photography and give the world’s leading photography galleries a one of a kind window to present their artists during the most crisp time of the art world calendar.
photo basel 2016 will combine young galleries as well as renowned international ones whose artists consist not only of young, emerging artists and talents but also of those with a bold historic background. The fair provides its visitors the ultimate chance to connect and discover galleries whose photographic positions demonstrate a strong predilection to translate the DNA of contemporary creation and a gift for revealing talents, be it old and new.
