On 13th June Dorotheum invites you on a casual tour through the history of photography.

The photography auction brings together high quality gelatin silver prints, vintage photographs and even natural prints (from 1856). The 193 items from India which document Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s world tour of 1893 are particularly historically significant. The vintage albumen photographs are valued at between €30,000 and €40,000.

Alongside early Viennese photographs by the likes of Trude Fleischmann or Anton Josef Trcka are shots by Rudolf Koppitz, like "Spring" (€8,000 - 12,000) or "At the harbour" (€4,000 - 5,000).

A significant part of the auction consists of Czech photography from the 1930s and influences of "Neue Sachlichkei"” (New Objectivity) and surrealism are present in the works of Josef Bartuska, a founding member of the avant-garde group, "Linie", based in Budweis (České Budějovice): ("At the open window", "Leg and ball", "Shadow and dragonfly", each €600 -800).

Ludwig Hoffenreich recorded "actions" and performances by the Viennese actionists, such as "Selbstbemalung 1" by Günter Brus in December 1964 (€2,000 - 3,000), and Friedl Kubelka captured Franz West (together with Fred Jelinek) in his "Paszstück"-universe on photographic paper (1975, later print, each €4,000 - 5,000).

Am 13. Juni lädt das Dorotheum zu einem lockeren Streifzug durch die Fotografiegeschichte.

Die Foto-Auktion versammelt hauptsächlich hochqualitative Gelatinesilber-Abzüge, Vintages und sogar Naturselbstdrucke (aus 1856). Historisch bedeutsam sind die 193 Aufnahmen aus Indien, die Erzherzog Franz Ferdinands Weltreise 1893 dokumentieren. Die Vintages, Albumin, sind zwischen 30.000 und 40.000 Euro bewertet.

Neben frühen Wiener Fotografien einer Trude Fleischmann oder Anton Josef Trcka finden sich auch Aufnahmen von Rudolf Koppitz, etwa "Frühling" (€ 8.000 - 12.000) oder "Im Hafen" (€ 4.000 - 5.000).

Einen großen Part der Auktion stellt tschechische Fotografie der 1930er Jahre: Einflüsse der Neuen Sachlichkeit und des Surrealismus zeigen sich bei Josef Bartuska, einem Gründungsmitglied der Budweiser Avantgarde-Gruppe "Linie" ("Beim offenen Fenster", "Bein und Ball", "Schatten und Libelle", je € 600 - 800).

Ludwig Hoffenreich hielt Aktionen und Performances von Wiener Aktionisten fest, etwa die "Selbstbemalung 1" von Günter Brus im Dezember 1964 (€ 2.000 - 3.000), Friedl Kubelka bannte Franz West (gemeinsam mit Fred Jelinek) in seinem Paszstück-Universum auf Fotopapier (1975, später Abzug, je € 4.000 - 5.000).
