The American premiere of Simpson’s new film installation, 31, commissioned for the exhibition Documenta XI. In ‘31’, the camera tracks a month in the life of an unknown woman, seen in a grid of thirty-one small projections. Close observance of these interlocking narratives reveals that she is not always where we expect her to be.
