Fontcuberta zeigt in seiner Präsentation im fotodiskurs Fotografien aus diversen spanischen Archiven. Alle sind sie in gewisser Weise krank oder verletzt. Befallen vom Fraß der Zeit, beschädigt durch Pilzbefall, nachoxidierte Silberionen oder verkratzte Emulsionsschichten verlieren sie ihre dokumentarische Bedeutung. Sie sind archivarisch wertlos. Doch gewinnen die so traumatisierten Fotografien eine bildliche Qualität, die den Betrachter in Traumwelten führt, in denen die Wirklichkeit nur noch fragmentarisch aufscheint.
Joan Fontcuberta hat sein Fotobuch "Die Traumadeutung" an Sigmund Freuds Grundlagenwerk "Die Traumdeutung" von 1900 angelehnt. Dafür wurde er mit dem PhotoEspaña Preis für das beste Fotobuch des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Der fotodiskurs präsentierte diese Fotografien und das Buch nun erstmals in einer Ausstellung in Deutschland.

In his exhibition at fotodiskurs Fontcuberta displays photographs he found in miscellaneous spanish archives in his exhibition at fotodiskurs. All of them are somehow ill or injured. Time left its marks. They loose their documentary importance through oxidized silver, scratches in emulsion or fungal attack. They are worthless for the use of documentary. But that way these traumatised photographs gain a visual quality, that takes the observer to a dream world, where reality appears only fragmentarily.

The book of Joan Fontcuberta was awarded the PhotoEspaña prize for the best photo book of the year in spain. fotodiskurs is presenting some of these photographs and this book now for the first time in an exhibition in Germany.
