Jan Rosseel - 'Back-up'
Opening: Friday December 10 / 17:00
Exhibition: December 10, 2016 till January 29, 2017
The first big solo exhibition in the Netherlands by Jan Rosseel opens on December 10, 2016. With 'Back-up', the Flemish photographer and visual storyteller presents a series of new works dealing with his fascination for our memory and the relationship of this to the formation of images by the media. Based around iconic images such as the beheading of James Foley or 9/11, Rosseel investigates the logic of visual media, the reliability of our memories and how we experience collective events.
Trilogy
'Backup' is the first exhibition of three successive exhibitions, each one with a different focus. These exhibitions will be held in de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam (focus media), Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent (focus psyche) and Stroom Den Haag (focus politics).
