Ordinary objets that are keeping their place indifferently despite the fast changing world, becomes something special and valuable in a photograph. The books unconsciously piled up and arranged in routine are recreated into Chaekgado series through the frames composed by LIM Soo Sik. Bookshelves full of books and decorated with objets depending on the taste and interest of its owner are filled of various stories and visual elements. LIM Soo Sik selects and prints different parts on separate pieces of traditional Korean paper and sew them together and recreate a bookself. Shelves that can be readily dismantled or disappeared are recreated as one and only Chaekgado by using LIM’s own criteria to finally become the owner of the various books and objets he has collected.
Chaekgado: Still life and Portrait exhibition will not only deliver the joy of observing the objets within the private bookshelf, and also present the new relationship created amongst different bookshelves.
