Rotterdam’s boutique photography fair is returning during Art Rotterdam Week, the biggest contemporary art event of the Netherlands, to create new experiences for art collectors and photography enthusiasts alike. Haute Photographie will take place from 7 to 10 February 2019 at LP2 in Rotterdam. Haute is delighted to announce the participating galleries, as well as the return of the Focus Exhibitions, the high-quality book market, and the engaging educational program created in collaboration with Nederlands Fotomuseum.

Haute Photographie 2019 Campaign Artist

This year’s campaign image is work made by Marvin E. Newman (US | b. 1927), represented by Howard Greenberg Gallery. The photographer, an “unfairly unsung hero” according to the British Journal of Photography, is a native New Yorker who has been taking photographs since the 1940’s. Newman only recently came to wider attention through the book City of Lights: The Undiscovered New York Photographer Marvin E Newman. A selection of Newman’s work will be shown at the fair.

Participating Galleries
Haute Photographie is proud to announce the list of participating galleries from around the world, from New York to Milan, with the addition of five new galleries this year.

New galleries include Atlas Gallery (UK) showing Andreas Gefeller (DE), Kacper Kowalski (PL), Niko Luoma (FI), and Nick Brandt (UK) and Gallery Fifty One (BE) showing Bruno V. Roels (BE) and Harry Gruyaert (BE). Returning galleries include Ibasho (BE) showing Yoshinori Mizutani (JP), Miho Kajioka (JP), Toshio Shibata (JP), Naohiro Ninomiya (JP), and Toshiya Watanabe (JP); Bildhalle (CH) showing Albarran Cabrera (ES), René Groebli (CH), Thomas Hoepker (DE), and Werner Bischof (CH) and The Ravestijn Gallery (NL) showing Bownik (PL), Christopher Anderson (CA), and Mona Kuhn (BR).

Focus Exhibitions
Alongside Haute’s main exhibition, Focus Exhibitions will offer a more in-depth look at the past and future of photography. The Vintage Section will present vintage artworks from the collections of the participating galleries, bringing together extraordinary names from the history of photography. The most intriguing photography talents from the Netherlands will get a platform at the Haute Talent exhibition, powered by the annual New Dutch Photography Talent.

Educational Program
Together with its partners, Haute Photographie will offer a diverse educational program to heighten the appreciation for photography as an art form. The program will include lectures, tours, and workshops, created to impart knowledge of the medium to a larger audience. The program details will be published in early 2019.

Haute Magazine
Additionally, Haute Magazine returns to offer in-depth articles and visual inspiration leading up to the fair: the third edition of Haute Magazine will be launched at Paris Photo in November 2018.

Haute Photographie
Haute Photographie is an international photography fair with a refreshing take on the fair format. Initiated by Roy Kahmann, director of Kahmann Gallery, publisher of GUP Magazine, and a long-term advocate of photography in the Netherlands, Haute was officially launched as part of Art Rotterdam Week in February 2017. The fair takes a carefully curated exhibition as its starting point, which provides a fascinating look at photography as a fine art medium. Accompanied by a focus exhibition on young Dutch photography talent, a talks programme in association with Nederlands Fotomuseum, a book market, and more, Haute will return to be a must-visit during the Rotterdam Art Week 2019, one of the key events in contemporary art in the Netherlands.
