DDK live #38 Paris Photo edition - Crossing Borders
Free entrance, sign up via info@dupho.nl (required!)
DDK live #38 is a special ParisPhoto edition! A collaboration between DuPho (Dutch association of professional photographers) & het Nederlands Fotomuseum at Atelier Néerlandais in Paris.
This edition will spotlight Dutch photography, investigating boundaries and crossing borders. How is Dutch photography presented in an era in which creative and technological opportunities are evolving?
Part I : photographers and their work. Amongst them are:
One of our special guests is Paulien Oltheten. DDK live investigates her way of work. Paulien is crossing borders in every way. La Défense, the venturing gaze is a piece of art in which she presents her imaginary links between people's behaviour during their daily life routines at the Paris' financial district. Paulien connects fiction with every day life in a poetic but also sober way. The work merges a video essay, a photo series, recordings and a collection of objects into a live performance. Born in 1982 in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Oltheten studied at AKV|St-Joost in Breda and at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. She is now based in Amsterdam and Paris.
An interview with Stacii Samidin! Radicalism, stories and the unseen are the foundation of Stacii Samadin's continuous life work called Societies, in which he explored the ghetto's of Paris, Nairobi, Los Angeles, Surinam, Jakarta and Bali. The core of the project is to create awareness of human judgment and prejudices. This year Stacii is the comissioned photographer by the Rijksmuseum for Document Nederland.
A live crowdfunding! Three photograpehers will pitch their latest project. The audience decides how the pirze money will be divided.
Part II, innovative institutions. Amongst them are:
DuPho presents its latest app PicaPro! This application is a licensing model developed with Blockchain technology. Through this app the image maker can sell his/her work to the customer without intermediaries. The license communicates very clearly the use for a specific period, via a certain medium (social media, websites, print, etc.). DuPho stands for Dutch Photographers, association of professional photographers. DuPho dedicates itself to improving the position of professional photographers in the commercial, social and cultural sphere.
Het Nederlands Fotomuseum will present Captions for Cas. For this unique project the museum calls the audience to help describe the photographs from the Cas Oorthuys Archive. The museum opens its doors to knowledge of individuals to be able to document and enrich the Dutch photographic heritage.
The 9th Carmignac Photojournalism Award will take you to the new frontier of the Artic. Emeric Glayse will talk about the 2018 edition awarded to Kadir van Lohuizen & Yuri Kozyrev.
