The exhibition "BE LIKE WATER, MY FRIEND" is devoted to contemporary minimalist photography that distance itself from established principles of representation and popular narratives of photography. These works create an open image of reality that aim for a sensitization in the observer. Everything in these frames has a historical mapping. Of centuries. Yet it also concerns the present moment. What we see in the photo must have been seen in the ancient world centuries ago. Yet this changelessness represents only an instant when placed in the context of another 'time-scale'.

A critical consciousness is required to look into the works, which for the artist deal with current conceptual approaches to human understanding arising from situations reflected upon through Water. OneWorld –One water. The connection of imagination and reality creates uncertainty in the observer, who experiences each work as unexpected and at the same time as an instance of reality creation. Openness and ambivalence encourage observers to question the moments on their own, to reflect upon visual impulses and indulge in a subjective view of the frames. Reality changes its form from different perspectives. The works in this exhibition evoke a moment of reality, brings us closer to a global reality of our lives connected through ambivalence, interconnectivity and depth.

Meditative and reflective, the exhibition is about our connection and respect for nature and each other. Gallery Under The Mango Tree gladly invites you the exhibition "BE LIKE WATER, MY FRIEND" by Ulrike Reetz.

With a focus on minimal abstract photography, Water is a recurring theme for the passionate sailor and photgrapher. She lives and works in Berlin.

As part of the exhibition "BE LIKE WATER, MY FRIEND", a "Sailor's Evening" will take place on 20th of June. Invited is every sailor and water lover in Berlin. Ulrike Reetz, photographer, also an enthusiastic sailor and pubquiz master in her sailing club will ask a quiz question in relation to the exhibited pictures. The winner would receive a signed picture! Only in case of more than one winners, the decion shall be taken through a draw.
