Carmen Calvo recovers old photographs from family albums (chiefly from the 40's to the 70's) that she finds in street markets to later decontextualize them and give them new meanings. They are images taken from oblivion that have a second life by virtue of the artist´s intervention.

This artist native to Valencia uses her work to create a world that is complex and mysterious, although not without humor and irony, where feminism and social, moral and religious critique all interlace, and there is a consistent observation of the patterns of behavior and of human relationships.
