The Swiss artist Daniele Buetti was born in 1956 and lives and works in Zürich. His work manipulates the signs and codes of subjects appropriated from advertising, fashion and lifestyle. He seductively combines everyday culture with profound and metaphorically charged content generating an aesthetic reflection of affirmative consumerism. His work not only questions the influence of the fashion and media industries within a wider social context, but confronts the emotional world of the viewer: "Buetti leads us off into spaces of the imagination that frequently exhibit melancholic traits. In these worlds of the imagination, a searching I appears, pursuing the difficult question of how inner and outer realities can be best combined" (Dorothea Strauss, 2004). His work is a perpetual interplay of surfaces which leave the viewer oscillating between self-determination and seduction, between the yearning of the individual and nausea in relation to mass media.
