Evangelia Kranioti is a Greek-born director and visual artist based in France, working with film, photography and installations.

She has studied Law (LLB, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), piano (National Conservatory of Athens), visual arts (BA and post-graduate research at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Paris) and cinema (diploma summa cum laude, Le Fresnoy–Studio national des arts contemporains, script writing at the École nationale supérieure de Louis Lumière and La Fémis).

Her work is regularly showcased both nationally and internationally (Paris Photo, Bi-ennale of Moving Images, Centre d’art contemporain-Geneva, Palazzo Grassi, Faena art, MASP Sao Paulo, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Palais de Tokyo, NY Photo Festival, Thessaloniki Biennale, MAC Créteil, FotoRio, CentQuatre, Nuit Blanche Bruxelles, ACFNY, etc).

The recipient of many scholarships and grants, she has received support from the : J.F. Costopoulos Foundation (GR), Basil & Eliza Goulandris Foundation (GR), Marc de Montalambert Foundation (FR), FAAP Foundation (BR), Fonds de Dota-tion Agnès b. (FR) and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.

In 2016 she received two Iris awards (Best Documentary & Best Newcomer) from the Hellenic Film Academy, for her first documentary feature Exotica, Erotica, Etc.(2015, 73’) which premiered at the Berlinale Forum of the same year and screened in various international film festivals (IDFA Amsterdam, BFI London film festival, Göteborg IFF, Hot Docs Toronto, Cairo IFF, Thessaloniki Documentary festival, Karlovy Vary IFF, Sarajevo IFF, among others) receiving numerous awards, such as the : Emerging International Filmmaker Award/ Toronto Hot Docs, Best Documen-tary/ LA Greek Festival, Best International Documentary/ Monterrey IFF, Best Eu-ropean Feature Documentary & Special Mention for Cinematography/ Tirana IFF, Audience award for Best Documentary/ Festival Films de Femmes Créteil and Fathy Farag Prize/ Film Critics' Week, Cairo IFF. She is also the recipient of the Loop- Barcelona Acquisition Award, the Special Jury Prize of Hyères International Fash-ion & Photography festival, the Photographic Award of the Treilles Foundation, the Prize for Best Installation of Les Amis du Fresnoy, and she is currently shortlisted for the SAM contemporary art Prize.
