Christie’s will hold on 29 June its Photographs auction, focusing on 20th and 21st century photography. Presenting over 100 lots – iconic prints by Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Edward Weston, Irving Penn, and Helmut Newton as well as more contemporary works from Walead Beshty, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Nick Knight, Sohei Nishino, Thomas Ruff and Mario Testino.
Two lots by Hiroshi Sugimoto and Joana Choumali will be sold to benefit The Future is Unwritten: A Healing Arts Initiative, a campaign spurred on by the mental health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. There will also be a spotlight on the work of Nick Brandt led by one of his most famous images, Elephant Drinking. Fashion photography, contemporary and experimental works, as well as documentary, classic and historic, all sit alongside each other across a range of estimates, starting at €1,000 and including a no reserve lot in this Spring sale.
