The 35 artists on show in this section of the exhibition were selected by an international jury through an Open Call initiative, among over 25,000 images and 2500 photographers from 98 different countries

It features projects that have reclaimed an alternative way of telling a tale, from projects that reframe overlooked historical figures to ones that reclaim an idea of beauty that has been stereotyped. Helping to achieve what Chinua Achebe called “a balance of stories” is one of the founding missions of the PhotoVogue platform, which celebrates its 10th anniversary. Human beings are storytelling creatures: the stories we tell become the very world we inhabit. There's a great African proverb that Achebe quotes often, "until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." This edition of the festival is looking at the lions' stories.

The sixth edition of The Photo Vogue Festival, the first conscious fashion photography festival dedicated to the common ground between ethics and aesthetics, is back in Milan and it will be both physical and digital.

Between November 18 and 21, 2021, the event will unfold through exhibitions, talks, portfolio reviews both on the territory and within the new digital platform, and satellite events all around the city of Milano.

The photographic exhibitions will revolve around the theme "Reframing History": an exploration of projects that aim to present an alternative view, reinventing neglected historical figures or questioning stereotyped narratives.

As every edition, the Festival will be a unique opportunity for those interested in photography, fashion and art to come into contact with a showcase of innovative photography and industry leaders, from curators to practitioners.
