This exhibition is the largest solo exhibition of Masashi Asada, a photographer working on the themes of "family" and "commemorative photography," tracing his work from the origins of their creation to his latest works, along with his own words.
Since the release of "The Asada Family" in 2008, Asada has been using his own family as his subjects and has been creating works using the set-up photographic method, in which he plays various situations together with his own family while capturing the changes in his family over time.
In addition to Asada's entire series, this exhibition will feature his latest work, "My Family" (Ibaraki edition), which traces the current state of photo return activities in Noda Village, Iwate Prefecture, 10 years after the earthquake. In "My Family", participants will be invited as subjects and collaborators, focusing on their family memories and thoughts, and expressing their family stories through photographs by Asada and texts by the participants.
