Anastasia Samoylova is an American artist who moves between observational photography, studio practice and installation. By utilizing tools and strategies related to digital media and commercial photography, her work explores notions of environmentalism, consumerism and the picturesque. Her new book Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova & Walker Evans was published by Steidl in 2022. In 2020-2021 her ongoing project FloodZone was presented in solo exhibitions at the Chrysler Museum of Art; HistoryMiami Museum; Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa; and The Print Center Philadelphia. The book of the project was published by Steidl in 2019. In 2022 the project will be exhibited at the Eastman Museum. In 2021 she was awarded the first KBr Photo Award by KBr Fundación MAPFRE. Samoylova is shortlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2022.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with photographs by Anastasia Samoylova and an essay by Ulrike Heine (English/German).

Anastasia Samoylova, geboren 1984, lebt in Miami. In ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit bewegt sie sich zwischen beobachtender Fotografie, Studiopraxis und Installation. Ihr neues Buch Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova & Walker Evans kam 2022 bei Steidl heraus. 2020-2021 wurde ihre Serie FloodZone in Einzelausstellungen im Chrysler Museum of Art, im HistoryMiami Museum, im Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa, und The Print Center Philadelphia präsentiert. Das Buch zum Projekt wurde 2019 ebenfalls bei Steidl veröffentlicht. 2022 wird FloodZone im Eastman Museum, Rochester, präsentiert. Anastasia Samoylova wurde mit dem ersten Kbr Photo Award der Kbr Fundación MAPFRE ausgezeichnet. Sie ist außerdem für den Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2022 nominiert.
