Architectural fragments in combination with abstract forms, colour surfaces and lines are the main components of Christine Erhard's photographs. Photographic perspectives and graphic elements are in dialogue with each other, this kind of collage and montage runs through the entire artistic work of Christine Erhard.

Her photographic works develop out of a sculptural process in her studio. No digital post-processing, the object of the image has been conceived and built by the artist, as different materials, axes of vision and levels of reality actually physically come together in her images. In a matter of seconds, the camera produces an image of an object that was made for the sole purpose of taking a photograph. The lengthy craft process of the image object, which extremely slows down the production of the image, is in opposition to the ever faster medium of the photographic image. It takes a while to grasp Christine Erhard's photographs; at first slightly irritating, the eye is drawn into the picture, follows the different perspectives and immerses itself in the surfaces and depths.

Christine Erhard (*1969) studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1992 to 1998, since then she has worked as a freelance artist in Düsseldorf and since 2022 has been Professor of Photography at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel.

Architekturfragmente in Verbindung mit abstrakten Formen, Farbflächen und Linien sind Hauptbestandteil in Christine Erhards Fotografien. Dabei stehen fotografische Perspektiven und grafische Elemente im Dialog zueinander, diese Art der Collage und Montage zieht sich durch das gesamte künstlerische Werk von Christine Erhard.

Ihre fotografischen Arbeiten entwickeln sich aus einem bildhauerischen Prozess in ihrem Atelier heraus. Keine digitale Nachbearbeitung, der Bildgegenstand ist von der Künstlerin konzipiert und gebaut worden, indem unterschiedliche Materialien, Blickachsen und Realitätsebenen in ihren Bildern tatsächlich physisch aufeinandertreffen. Die Kamera fertigt in Sekundenschnelle das Bild eines Gegenstandes an, der nur zum Zweck des Fotografierens hergestellt wurde. Der langwierige handwerkliche Prozess des Bildobjektes, der die Bildproduktion extrem verlangsamt, wirkt dem immer schneller werdenden Medium der fotografischen Aufnahme entgegen. Es dauert eine Weile die Fotografien von Christine Erhard zu erfassen, anfangs leicht irritierend wird der Blick in das Bild hineingesogen, verfolgt die verschiedenen Perspektiven und taucht ein, in die Oberflächen und Tiefen.

Christine Erhard (*1969) studierte von 1992 bis 1998 an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, seitdem ist sie als freischaffende Künstlerin in Düsseldorf tätig und seit 2022 Professorin für Fotografie an der Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel.

Ses travaux photographiques se développent à partir d'un processus sculptural dans son atelier. Pas de retouche numérique, l'objet de l'image a été conçu et construit par l'artiste, dans la mesure où différents matériaux, axes de vision et niveaux de réalité se rencontrent effectivement physiquement dans ses images. L'appareil photo réalise en quelques secondes l'image d'un objet qui a été fabriqué dans le seul but d'être photographié. Le long processus artisanal de l'objet à photographier, qui ralentit extrêmement la production de l'image, s'oppose au médium de plus en plus rapide de la prise de vue photographique. Il faut un certain temps pour saisir les photographies de Christine Erhard, au début légèrement irritant, le regard est attiré dans l'image, suit les différentes perspectives et s'immerge dans les surfaces et les profondeurs.

Christine Erhard (*1969) a étudié à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Düsseldorf de 1992 à 1998. Depuis, elle travaille comme artiste indépendante à Düsseldorf et, depuis 2022, elle est professeur de photographie à la Muthesius Kunsthochschule de Kiel.
