Photography, in its essence, is a remarkable medium that captures and preserves moments, essentially creating replicas of the world around us. Building upon this fundamental concept, photographer, curator, and organiser of photographic exhibitions Bojan Radovič invites you to join for the workshop “Finding Your Replica”, where the group will delve into the choices involved in bringing ideas to print and finding the right presentation concepts.

During this workshop, Radovič will explore with the participants the intricate relationship between the original and the replica within the photographic medium to unravel the deeper meaning behind these replicated moments and their significance in artistic expression.

Through engaging discussions, hands-on projects, and the sharing of insights from Bojan Radovič’s own creative process, the group will embark on a journey of discovery and contemplation. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own photographic practice and explore the art of creating meaningful photographic work.

The workshop will be held in English. Registration deadline is on August 9, 2024. Participants are asked to bring a selection of their work in print or digital form.

Bojan Radovič (*1960, Novo mesto, Slovenia), is a photographer, curator, and organizer of photographic exhibitions. He graduated in photography from the Swansea College of Art (UK) in 1982. Bojan has presented his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both locally and internationally. His contribution to the development and interest in fine art photography is of European importance; he played a significant role in establishing the photography scene in Novo mesto, founding the Novo mesto Photo Gallery in 1984, which became one of the cornerstones of the photography community in the city. Bojan also founded the House of Photography, where he was actively involved in various photographic projects and initiatives, creating an exchange of international artists. He has participated in residencies in New York (2008), London (2022), and was the first Slovenian photographer to take part in the "European Eyes on Japan" project in 2012. His work inspired the concept for the exhibition “Paradise, Performance, Replica. Slovenian Photographic Art”, at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt in 2023.

Die Fotografie ist in ihrem Wesen ein bemerkenswertes Medium, das Momente einfängt und bewahrt und im Wesentlichen Repliken der Welt um uns herum schafft. Aufbauend auf diesem grundlegenden Konzept wird sich der slowenische Fotograf, Kurator und Ausstellungs-Organisator Bojan Radovič in seinem Workshop »Finding Your Replica« mit verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Ideen-Umsetzung in gedruckter Form und mit der Suche nach den richtigen Präsentationskonzepten beschäftigen.

Während des Workshops geht Radovič mit den Teilnehmenden der komplizierten Beziehung zwischen dem Original und der Kopie innerhalb des fotografischen Mediums nach, um die tiefere Bedeutung hinter diesen reproduzierten Momenten und ihre Relevanz für den künstlerischen Ausdruck zu entschlüsseln.

Durch anregende Diskussionen, praktische Projekte und den Austausch von Erkenntnissen aus Bojan Radovičs eigenen kreativen Prozess begibt sich die Gruppe auf eine Reise der Entdeckung und Kontemplation. Die Teilnehmenden werden die Möglichkeit haben, ihre eigene fotografische Praxis zu reflektieren und weiterzuentwickeln.

Anmeldeschluss zum Workshop ist am 09.08.2024. Die Teilnehmenden werden gebeten, eine oder mehrere fotografische Arbeiten als analoge Prints oder als digitale Bilddateien mitzubringen.

Bojan Radovič (*1960, Novo mesto, Slowenien) ist Fotograf, Kurator und Organisator von Fotoausstellungen; 1982 machte er seinen Abschluss in Fotografie am Swansea College of Art (UK). Sein Beitrag zur Entwicklung und zum Interesse an der Kunstfotografie ist von europäischer Bedeutung: Bojan Radovič spielte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Etablierung der Fotoszene in Novo mesto und gründete 1984 die Fotogalerie Novo mesto, die zu einem Zentrum der Fotografengemeinde in der Stadt wurde. Außerdem gründete er das House of Photography, wo er sich aktiv an verschiedenen fotografischen Projekten und Initiativen beteiligte und einen Austausch zwischen internationalen Künstlern herstellte. Er nahm an Residencies in New York (2008) und London (2022) teil und war der erste slowenische Fotograf, der 2012 am europäischen Projekt »Eyes on Japan« teilnahm. Seine Werke wurden in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland präsentiert. Ebenso waren sie Anregung für das Konzept und Teil der Ausstellung »Paradise, Performance, Replica. Slovenian Photographic Art«, die das Fotografie Forum Frankfurt 2023 als Beitrag zum Ehrengastprogramm Sloweniens zur Frankfurter Buchmesse präsentiert.
