ENCOUNTER Ⅷ The Time of Dry Eyes

Photography emerges from a gaze and the weight of time dwelling within it. The “dry eyes” serves not as the absence of feeling but as a metaphor for the trace of time left at the end of sustained looking. To see is to inhabit the other’s temporality, and such looking unfolds into a disposition of relation. Framed by the contemporary sensibility of “living together”, the 2025 Encounter VIII exhibition introduces four artists who have practiced this mode of looking. The exhibition presents photography not as a mere record of a moment but as a site of relational thinking, where the viewer’s gaze opens further possibilities of contact.
