Wolf Suschitzky Photography Prize 2025
Jeremy Chih-Hao Chuang, Ephemeral Intimacy, 23WIOC – Sitting in the closet

The ACF London is pleased to present an exhibition of works by the winners and shortlisted artists from our photography prize in tribute of the late Austrian emigre photographer Wolf Suschitzky. The ACF London, with the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (BMWKMS) initiated the prize in 2018 following the death of Wolf Suschitzky. Reflecting the dual nature of Suschitzky's identity, the prize was aimed at photographers based in both the UK and Austria. This year the prize is once again presented in partnership with Fotohof Salzburg. For our fourth edition of the Wolf Suschitzky Photography Prize we present the winning and shortlisted artists from Austria and the UK who responded to our theme of All the Worlds a Stage.

The exhibition will feature winning entries by Andrej Polukord (AT) and Jeremy Chih-Hao Chuang (UK) alongside the shortlisted photographers. From Austria: Anna Jocham (AT), Benjamin Jones (UK), Chidinma Nnorom (UK), Eva Maria Ocherbauer (AT), Hessam Samavatian (AT), Maria Quigley (UK), Natalie Maximova (UK), Nora Obergeschwandner (AT).

Winners and shortlisted photographers were carefully considered by our UK / Austrian jury. They will receive a residency in the partner city (London or Vienna). The Vienna residency is made possible with the kind support of the BMWKMS.

Andrej Polukord's Woodstatues combine performative, sculptural and photographic elements to create seemingly risky images of artistic self-exaltation. He turns visibly damaged environment into his personal stage, discussing current questions about the state of the world and the role of photography between a socially committed medium of documentation and a tool of exalted self-expression.

Jeremy Chih-Hao Chuang's submission Ephemeral Intimacy invites viewers to consider the world of modern dating as a stage where personal and universal dramas unfold. The images are technically well crafted as well as playful and honest. They tell the story of modern relationships and the experiences from the viewpoint of someone who has chosen London as their home. This series illuminates the nuanced performances of indivuduals in their private lives.

Join us for the private view and meet the photographers on Thursday 2 October 2025, 6.30 - 8.30pm. The exhibition will continue until Friday 28 November 2025.
