The online auction focuses on works created since the 1970s reflecting a range of movements and artistic directions within the Contemporary Japanese photography scene. The pieces originate from the collection of Roland Angst (1944–2022), a trained graphic designer who, from 2008 onwards, operated a publishing house and a gallery for photography and photobooks in Berlin named ONLY PHOTOGRAPHY. Due to his personal and professional ties to Japan, he played a significant role in introducing and promoting Japanese photography in Germany.

Der Schwerpunkt der Auktion liegt auf Photographien, die seit den 1970er Jahren entstanden sind und verschiedene Strömungen der zeitgenössischen japanischen Photoszene widerspiegeln. Die Arbeiten stammen aus der Sammlung von Roland Angst (1944-2022), der als ausgebildeter Graphikdesigner seit 2008 in Berlin einen Verlag und eine Galerie für Photographie und Photobücher unter dem Namen ONLY PHOTOGRAPHY betrieb und durch seine persönliche und professionelle Verbindung nach Japan eine wichtige Vermittlungsfunktion für die japanische Photoszene in Deutschland innehatte.
