After 25 years at 65 Rue de Seine, the Arcturus Gallery continues its momentum into a new era with a new photography exhibition, still loyal to Photodays, this time on Rue Guénégaud!

I met Hervé Gloaguen 20 years ago at one of the famous evenings organised by Catherine and Marc Riboud during Paris Photo.

I was immediately struck by his mischievous side, a certain modesty, a taste for discovery and adventure, and perhaps a certain roughness on the surface, no doubt drawn from his Breton roots, which we share.

Since then, the Arcturus Gallery has represented him in fourteen exhibitions, both face-to-face and thematic, as well as in solo exhibitions. Hervé Gloaguen's previous exhibitions focused on his favourite themes and personal passions: art, painting, music, particularly jazz, and their protagonists.

For this retrospective, we have made a cross-sectional selection of photographs from all periods, with the common thread of scenes where people are in motion, scenes where one senses a certain strangeness, an amused and affectionate gaze that is very much Hervé Gloaguen's view of the world. Always with a very subtle composition, the play of light and shadow in the black and white and colour photographs brings a smile, an emotion, a sense of distance with a touch of humour.

His work makes him a historical witness to the period from the 1960's to the 2000's, while revealing his curiosity about the world and others, as well as his audacity in having very early on integrated the power of colour alongside black and white.
