The presentation is conceived around the notion of "Transformation" and features a dialogue between artists from the gallery program – Christiane Feser, Iwajla Klinke and Thorsten Brinkmann.
While the works vary in their degree of figuration and abstraction, all three positions engage with the question of how reality is represented in photography.
Iwajla Klinke explores concepts of masculinity and identity by portraying groups of adolescent men around the world who transform their self-image through masquerade, thereby questioning the notion of gender.
In his self-portraits and assemblages, Thorsten Brinkmann challenges the relationship between subject and object. Using found materials and everyday items, he creates surreal, often humorous compositions that blur the boundaries between sculpture, performance, and photography.
Christiane Feser ultimately departs completely from the two-dimensional surface of the image by transforming her photographs into three-dimensional photo objects through deliberate and multi-stage manipulation. Her works occupy a space between image and sculpture, prompting viewers to question what is real and what is constructed within the photographic medium.
