FROM EXTREME VIOLENCE TO BLACK HUMOR

°CLAIRbyKahn explores photography as a powerful tool for recording and processing violence, showcasing pieces by artists who work from a place of compassion, and, from time to time, with a hint of irony.

Roger Ballen delves into psychic pain, Thomas Dworzak confronts the Caucasus, Seán Hillen makes uncanny juxtapositions, Edward Kaprov has a unique vision of the war in Ukraine, Shigeichi Nagano documents the 1960 Tokyo Anpo protests, Éric Schwab records the liberation of the WWII concentration camps, and Patrick Zachmann and Yves Samuel consider the aftermath of the 2015 terrorist Paris attacks.

The selection tests the limits of the photographic medium, linking works by multidisciplinary artists whose practices bridge fiction and journalism and incorporate collage and drawing. In parallel to the fair, Yves Samuel’s work will be shown in an unprecedented exhibition by the RATP in partnership with the Museum and Memorial of Terrorism (MMT) from 11 to 17 November in the République metro station on the platform of line 11.
