Kristen Gresh, curator of the exhibition Graciela Iturbide’s Mexico and Thyago Nogueira, curator of the exhibition Claudia Andujar: The Yanomami Struggle will engage in a conversation about how these photographers' unique perspectives broaden the scope of what photography can convey about reality.
Graciela Iturbide and Claudia Andujar move beyond documentary photography, giving form to images that are both poetic and attuned to the presence of others. Their images emerge from the relationships of proximity and trust they develop with their subjects and reflect a lived experience rather than a momentary observation. In their work, reality is transformed, infused with imagination, memory, and the depth of human connection.
