A broad, multidisciplinary reinterpretation of Italian cultural production from the post-war period to the present day, through the works of over 140 artists, a rich publication and an extensive public program.
The project stems from a distinctive feature of Italian culture: the peculiar tendency to respond to tragedy with irony.
Through the filter of the tragicomic, the exhibition recounts how many Italian artists have used comedy, self-irony and paradox as tools of criticism and as an antidote to tragedy.
Tragicomica explores these themes across cultural production in a broad sense, including cinema, theatre, architecture, literature, and philosophy.
In collaboration with Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève.
