Beautiful Country is the theme of Cortona On The Move 2026!

An invitation to look again at what lies before our eyes: from July 16 to November 1, 2026, Cortona On The Move dedicates its new edition to Italy with Beautiful Country.

The 2026 theme marks the beginning of Renata Ferri's artistic direction:
"In this image-saturated age, Beautiful Countryinvites us to observe more carefully, to become more aware of the world around us and its fragile balance to which we are inextricably connected. It is from these thoughts that the architecture of the new edition of the Cortona International Photography Festival takes shape — dedicated to telling the story of Italy over recent decades, an incomplete atlas, since observation is by its very nature endless. A journey of journeys, where photographs become waypoints in an exploration — at times spontaneous, at times meticulous — of the visual and cultural identity of the country."

Thirty exhibitions, cross-generational dialogues, and two group shows in which Italian and international photographers explore Italy in all its complexity, blending the spirit of the Grand Tour with the depth of contemporary documentary inquiry.

Among the exhibition projects, 2026 sees the Festival take on the role of commissioner with Peninsula — following in the footsteps of the masters behind the mythical Viaggio in Italia of 1984 — bringing together a new generation of photographers eager to engage with the defined and liminal territories of the contemporary landscape.
