At this year’s Photo London, Galerie—Peter—Sillem presents works by Ute Mahler and Werner Mahler, two leading figures in German photography. The presentation centres on 22 rare vintage prints by Ute Mahler from 1978–1989, created in the former GDR and originally published in the iconic fashion magazine Sibylle. Moving beyond fashion photography, the images capture everyday life, individuality, and identity with subtle precision. Complementing these works is Monalisen der Vorstädte (Mona Lisas of the Suburbs, 2008–2010), the Mahlers’ first collaborative series exploring youth, identity, and belonging across European suburbs.
