The author wanted to draw up a photographic report starting from this no man' s land, between Paris and its suburbs while becoming aware of the changes, of the transformation, even of the disappearance of certain elements part of the urban landscape bordering this highway. Rich with diversity, thanks to its social, economic, cultural, industrial components, this vast landscape, with unclear borders, is in perpetual evolution. What will happen to the Mills of Paris, to the Saint-Ouen flea market, Mercuriales, the Park of la Villette, the docks of the General Warehouses, the high rises in the 13th, the Library of France, the remains of a past so close to us, of these almost neo-contemporary futuristic constructions? The course of this fortification running for 42 kilometers and circling a population of more than 2 million inhabitants is almost identical to the historical borders of the city. Then how not to feel this ring road as a border; an enormous furrow traced by man, accentuating a distinction between the habitants: the In, the Out, the Parisian, the commuters.
