photo l.a. 2007 16th international los angeles photographic art exposition january 18-21, 2007 . santa monica civic auditorium Opening Reception to Benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation photo l.a. 2007, the largest Photographic Art Exposition in the United States, will be held January 18 - 21 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, located at 1855 Main Street. Created by Stephen Cohen, producer of the highly acclaimed art fairs photo new york, photo san francisco, photo MIAMI and ART LA, the show will feature the finest photographic art on display and for sale, from the earliest 19th Century photographic experiments to the most contemporary photography and photo-based art. A preview reception benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation will be held on Thursday, January 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. A lecture and seminar series will also take place from January 19–21 with guest lecturers including internationally renowned photographers Anderson & Low, Jim Goldberg, Mona Kuhn, Todd Hido and Alec Soth. Mary Virginia Swanson, photography consultant, Stephen White, collector, historian and dealer in art photography and Virginia Heckert, associate curator of photography at the J. Paul Getty Museum, will address seminar participants. Exhibition hours are Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20, 12p.m. to 7p.m. and Sunday, January 21, 12p.m. to 6p.m. Tickets are $20 for a one-day pass and $30 for a three-day pass. Lectures are $10 each and onsite collecting seminars are $80 (includes a three day pass and catalog). Student discounts for lectures and the fair are available with valid I.D. Tickets to the opening benefit reception on Thursday, January 18th are $100. All exhibition, lecture and preview reception tickets are available for purchase at the door or in advance. Seminar tickets should be purchased in advance.
