John Divola »
The X-Files
Exhibition: 10 May – 14 Jun 2003
Patricia Faure Gallery is pleased to announce new work by photographer John Divola in an exhibition entitled "X-Files". The images were made on the sound stages of Fox Studios between January and April of 2002 during the last season of the Sci-Fi television program "X-Files." Divola was given unrestricted access to the sets when not in use. His subsequent photographs present isolated vignettes of the sets, devoid of characters and storyline, leaving a sometimes deconstructed and often haunting environment. In the project room, Divola presents an accompanying installation, "Artificial Nature", which uses found set still photographs of winter wonderlands and woodland expanses, all recreated on Hollywood back lots. Previously seen at the Salamanca Museum of Art, Salamanca, Spain, a book was published of the works included in the installation.
