To coincide with the Cindy Sherman exhibition and billboard commission, this symposium at the Goethe-Institut brings together an international panel of specialists who will discuss Sherman’s work. Speakers include: Wilfried Dickhoff Writer and curator based in Cologne and New York. Cindy Sherman Monographs and catalogues include those on Marcel Broodthaers, Joseph Beuys, Martin Kippenberger, Cindy Sherman and Rosemarie Trockel. Publications include: After Nihilism: Essays on Contemporary Art (Cambridge University Press, 2000). Hal Foster Professor of Art & Archaeology, New Jersey Princeton University. Publications include: Postmodern Culture (Pluto, 1995), Return of the Real (MIT Press, 1996) and Design and Crime: (and other Diatribes) (Verso, 2002). Laura Mulvey Professor of Film and Media Studies, Arts and Humanities Research Board Birkbeck College and Director of the AHRB Centre of British Film and Television Studies. Publications include: Visual and Other Pleasures (Macmillan, 1989) and Fetishism and Curiosity (British Film Institute, 1996). Katy Siegel Assistant Professor of Art History ,the city university of New York Hunter College, and contributing editor to Artforum. Publications include essays on Lisa Yuskavage, Jean-Marc Bustamante, Andreas Gursky, and Joel Sternfeld.
