"I have sworn that I´ll never go to a bullfight. We were driving in the countryside in Southern France and in the middle of a big open I saw many horses lined up. Next to them, there was one horse all covered up. It looked like a Star Wars horse. On the horse sat an old man with a long cane in his hand. I wanted to take the man´s portrait and went to the middle of the field. The evening sun was stingingly beautiful and the horse stood there puffing with red hat on its head. After a few shots, the man started laughing and told me to move. I heard thundering behind me and turned to look. In the middle of a cloud of dust ran a bull and five horses straight at me. I ran to the edge of the field and stayed there. They were training bulls for a fight. Young boys were helping the experienced matatdor to annoy the bull. Then the covered horse and the man came next to the bull. When the bull attacked the horse, the man started beating it with the stick, which had a big spike in it. I almost threw up there. The bull was so young and so beautiful. The bleeding blood on his black fur was sadly tempting in the sunlight. Then the bull started screaming. It just bellowed there and looked so frightened. I looked at it through the camera lens and it stared straight at me and just cried there. Then they just kept on torturing it and finally threw it to the ground, bound its legs and covered its eyes and took it to the car. They didn´t even kill it, just annoyed it for the oncoming fight. We went to see flamingos. When we walked closer to them, they went further on the sea." Nelli Palomäki
