Stieglitz19 Antwerp, Klapdorp 2, Belgium : 19 November - 24 December 2011
3 Shadows Photography Art Center, Beijing : 3 December 2011 - 6 January 2012
The exhibition “Depth of Field” is an overview of the most talented young Photographers from Belgian at the moment, a show previously shown at the Guangdong Museum of Arts in Guangzhou, and now on show in Antwerp at the
Stieglitz19 gallery and at the 3 Shadows Photography Art Center
There is the young Artist Jimmy Kets, with his unique snapshots of daily life. He is photographer to the prestigious newspaper De Standaard and winner of 2 Nikon award prices for most promising young Photographer of the year.
Arno Roncada shows his some works from his Imaginary Landscapes , pictures of Peaceful Mountains of Desire: landscapes he invents himself to create a new reality. It is an artist that does not take Photographs, but invents them, a thrilling experience.
Chalotte Lybeer shows works of her LARP series, portraits of persons who dress up in costumes of this Role playing game. Her work is about transformation , the desire or the fear to transform into a new character. She also teaches at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp (NHISK).
Francois Goffin is a most promosing young Photographer, showing his series which made him famous : the ‘les choses simples” series . Pictures of everyday life, without any corrections, extremely poetic and intriguing. He has been nominated for the Prix de la Communaute Francaise, and recentely for the prestigious Steichen Price in Luxembourg.
Lara Gasparotto is the youngest of all artist , and maby the most straightforward of all of them. It is a mixture of spantaneous photogrphy à la Nan Goldin , yet is analogous to the punk and anarchy waves of contemporary Photography. A discovery.
Bert Danckaert studied photography at the Royal Academy for FineArts and the National Higher Institute for Fine Arts (NHISK) in Antwerp (B).Since the mid nineties, he has been working as a photographer and has showed his work in several solo and group exhibitions in Belgium and abroad He shows work of his simple present series : abstract pictures of common places of daily life we normally ignore.
