PHotoEspaña will take place from 6 June May to 22 July 2012 and will be focus on the theme From here. Context and Internationalization
PHotoEspaña 2012, XV edition of International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, will take place in Madrid and Lisbon from 6 June to 22 July 2012.
The thematic section, curated by Gerardo Mosquera, proposes an exhibition programme devoted to the concept From here. Context and Internationalization. PHE12 aims to address, in a general sense, cultural and artistic issues regarding the global circulation of art, and especially the relationship between contexts and internationalization, the contextual construction of "international art", the interconnections between local and international spheres, and their multidirectional dynamics.
The fifteenth edition of the International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts will offer a program of 74 exhibitions in 68 venues among them museums, galleries, art centers and exhibitions halls. 280 artists of 44 nationalities will be participating.
PHotoEspaña organizes, among others, collective exhibitions as Image Anxiety, produced by Fundación Telefónica, at Sala Alcalá 31 of Comunidad de Madrid, which will gather works of artists as Matteo Basilé, Chen Chieh-Jen, Lu Nan, Wang Ningde and Lee Yongbaek; air_port_photo, organized by Fundación Aena, which brings together at Real Jardín Botánico-CSIC photographs by Helena Almeida, José Manuel Ballester, Alberto García-Alix and Chema Madoz, among others; From the Factory to the World. Photography and the Warhol Community which collects the work of artists as Cecil Beaton, Brigid Berlin, Nat Finkelstein, Stephen Shore and Andy Warhol at Teatro Fernán Gómez-Centro de Arte / Fundación Banco Santander; and Here we are, at Circulo de Bellas Artes, will feature images of Richard Avedon, Richard Billingham, Lilla Szász and Paz Errázurriz.
As well, PHotoEspaña 2012 will present solo exhibitions, among others, the work of Carlos Garaicoa at Fundacion ICO, Scott Schuman, The Sartorialist at Loewe, Gran Vía, 8 and Santiago Sierra at Off Limits.
