"FOTOKRONIEK #3 - Insightsproject" an Artist Talk by Todd Hido

A lecture about Todd's Sources and Influences: Hido will be showing his work along with the work of other people he has studied with or admired throughout his career.

Todd Hido is a San Francisco Bay Area-based artist whose work has been featured in Artforum, The New York Times Magazine, Eyemazing, Metropolis, The Face, I-D, and Vanity Fair. His photographs are in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as well as in many other public and private collections. He has over a dozen published books; his upcoming monograph titled Excerpts from Silver Meadows will be released in 2012.

His photographs emanate a strange and wonderful sensation of color through the balancing of available light and long exposures. These voyeuristic images provide an intense and sometimes disturbing view of suburbia. Capturing the shadows, moods, and lighting of suburban homes-from the outside- his work leads the viewer to wonder about the lives and stories within.

Hido will show a lot of his model- and night photography work along with new landscape images.
He will discuss and show slides of his sources and influences for his work. He has taught at both C.C.A.C. and the San Francisco Art Institute.

Todd Hido will be in Amsterdam for a very special workshop organized by the Insightsproject from the 4th till the 9th of June. Saturday, June 9th - Participants of the Todd Hido workshop will present a selection of their new made work (selected by Todd) in the Bloemstraat 154 at 20:00hrs (free entrance).
