New work by the artist at Arco Madrid 2013

Galeria Juan Silió
stand: 10 B 05 (Hall 10)
13 - 17 February 2013

Michael Najjar presents at arco 2013 together with Galería Juan Silió new work from his "outer space" series.

The photographic and video works deal with the latest cutting-edge developments in space flight and the way they will shape our future life on earth and in earth’s near orbit. The work aims to elucidate the cultural dimension of new technological developments in space travel and transpose it into a process of artistic transformation.

As one of the pioneer astronauts of Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, Michael will be embarking on SpaceShipTwo in one of its 2014 scheduled flights where he shall be the first artist in space. To prepare for the flight, Michael was undertaking in december last year a multistage cosmonaut training program at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) in Star City, Russia. The course covers jet flight in the stratosphere, zero-g flight, centrifuge training, simulated space walks in the hydrolab, and training simulations in the Soyuz capsule.

New photographic and video works which have been produced during the cosmonaut training will be on view at Galeriá Juan Silió´s booth.
