Exhibition Fouilles / Olivier Cablat. Carte Blanche PMU / LE BAL 2012
For the third year in a row, the pmu, the french state-controlled horse racing betting system, demonstrates its commitment to contemporary photography by partnering with LE BAL to give carte blanche to a photographer for him to take a fresh look at the world of betting and sport games.
Olivier Cablat is the 2012 Carte Blanche awarded photographer after Malik Nejmi in 2010 and Mohamed Bourouissa in 2011.

Olivier Cablat has been selected by a prestigious jury: Philippe Germond, CEO of PMU - Benoit Cornu, Communication Director of the PMU - Diane Dufour, director of LE BAL - Jacqueline d'Amécourt, President of the Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art - Quentin Bajac, Chief of Staff of photography at the Centre Pompidou - Stéphane Couturier, Photographer - Nicolas Ferrand Collector - Director of of le Quotidien de l’art and Jean de Loisy - Chairman of the Palais de Tokyo.

The exhibition will also present the series Turfisme by Malik Nejmi and RIP by Mohamed Bourouissa.

Fouilles by Olivier Cablat will be published by Editions Filigranes.


CALL for entries 2013

The call for entries is open to all professional photographers living in France with no condition of age neither of nationality.
The photographer will submit an original and singular photographic project, far from any stereotypes about the PMU environment (betting games, places, clients, social link) but without neglecting the core of the business: the gambling.

Award
The selected photographer will benefit from 20 000 euros for the project achievement. This work will be exhibited at LE BAL and published in a special collection by Filigranes Editions.

LE BAL, in Paris, is a platform for exhibitions, publications, ideas and education centred on the image as document (photo, video, cinema, new media, …)

Pour la troisième année consécutive, le PMU s’associe au BAL pour donner carte blanche à un photographe et lui permettre de porter un regard original sur l’univers des jeux et paris.
Après Malik Nejmi en 2010 et Mohamed Bourouissa en 2011, Olivier Cablat est le lauréat de la Carte blanche 2012.
Olivier Cabalat a été sélectionné par un jury prestigieux (Jacqueline d’Amécourt (Présidente de l’International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art), Quentin Bajac (Conservateur en chef pour la photographie au MoMa), Stéphane Couturier (Photographe), Diane Dufour, (Directrice du BAL), Nicolas Ferrand (Collectionneur - Directeur de la publication du Quotidien de l’art) et Jean de Loisy, (Président du Palais de Tokyo), Philippe Germond (Président Directeur général du PMU), Benoit Cornu (Directeur de la Communication du PMU).)
L’exposition présente également les séries Turfisme, réalisée par Malik Nejmi et RIP de Mohamed Bourouissa.

APPEL À CANDIDATURES 2013 : 

Téléchargeable sur les sites du BAL et du PMU, à partir du 21 mai 2013.

L’appel à candidature est ouvert à tout photographe professionnel sans considération d’âge, ni de nationalité résidant en France.
Le photographe proposera un projet de création photographique original et singulier, loin des stéréotypes,
sur l’univers du PMU (jeux, clients, paris, lieux, lien social…) sans négliger son coeur de métier : le jeu.
DOTATION DU PRIX : le photographe sélectionné bénéficie d’une dotation de 20 000 euros pour la réalisation d’un projet inédit. Ce travail fait l’objet d’une exposition au BAL et d’une publication dans le cadre d’une collection aux Editions Filigranes.
