As simple as life
21st May - 30rd June

Elliott Erwitt is probably the lightest classical photographer. Light as a sparrow – he liked to shoot on his unchangeable Leica Camera beach photos and dogs, cinema stars and someone’s legs in the streets, sun, sea and politicians...

Each shot is priceless, as the moments, captured by Erwitt, are pretty much like our own memory. When you look at the photos, you think of them as of your own album and you are right... You hear voices of Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller, their laugh and noise behind the scene, looking at the act perfectly gathered in Nevada at filming of "The Misfits" by John Huston in the 1960.You think that it is you, who peeped when the dog that dig itself in the sand and noticed the old man in a cap who stands in riverside waves ... Some photos by Erwitt – as for example, Parisian sketch with umbrellas against the background of the Eiffel Tower seems to exist for years, but it is Elliott Erwitt. «I have been living for so long, that editors are convinced, that I am already dead» – Elliott jokes, whose life had been started after immigration of his parents from Russia. At his elegant and a bit incredible 94, Erwitt gives interviews and makes exhibitions where he always appears. Last year alive treasure of Magnum agency visited his own exhibition at Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow. Elliott Erwitt had been in Russia for many times from 1957, when he first happened to be in USSR.The new exhibition, called «Portraits» at Pobeda Gallery is a compilation of rare and legendary photographs by Elliott Erwitt – 15 shots that makes hold one’s breath – and this is the first official opportunity to enrich your collection with a masterpiece by Erwitt in Russia.
