New digital video and photo works by the Guangzhou-based video artist Cao Fei.

Cosplayers played for the first time at the Shanghai Biennale 2004. The 8 minute digital video is a docu-drama about teenagers growing up in and around Guangzhou, who dress up like their favorite video game heroes. According to Cao Fei, "They expect their costumes will grant them true magical powers enabling the wearer to transcend reality and put themselves above all worldly and mundane concerns."more
