At the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Romania is represented by Anca Benera & Arnold Estefán with Black Seas – Scores for the Sonic Eye, a large-scale polyphonic installation that reconceives the Black Sea as a site of acoustic memory and geoecological fracture. Geta Brătescu (b. 1926, Ploiești) has been a central figure of Romanian contemporary art since the 1960s.
