The Auction features around more than 200 lots, presenting an impressive overview of photographic art from 1850 to the present day. Alongside icons of early photography, the sale includes historically important, journalistic and artistic works – from rare vintage prints to modern and contemporary classics.

The highlight of the sale is Julia Margaret Cameron’s (1815–1879) "Julia Jackson" from 1867 – one of the defining portraits of the Victorian era. Julia Jackson (1846–1895), Cameron’s niece and later mother of Virginia Woolf, embodies the Pre-Raphaeliteideal of beauty that pervaded mid-19th-century art. Captured shortly before her marriage, Cameron presents her with a profound sense of vulnerability and inner strength, rendered through her signature soft focus, expressive lighting, and emotional immediacy.

Cameron’s ability to transform photography into a medium of artistic and psychological depth made her one of the first true masters of the photographic portrait. Signed, annotated and bearing the Colnaghi blind stamp, this print is among the very few extant vintage examples of her work in private hands.

Die Auktion präsentiert mehr als 200 Lose, die einen eindrucksvollen Überblick über die Geschichte der Fotokunst seit 1850 geben. Neben Ikonen der Frühzeit werden fotohistorisch bedeutende, journalistische und künstlerische Werke angeboten – von frühen Vintage Prints bis zu Klassikern des 20. Jahrhunderts und zeitgenössischen Positionen.

Das herausragende Highlight ist "Julia Jackson" von Julia Margaret Cameron (1815–1879) von 1867 – eines der berühmtesten Porträts der viktorianischen Epoche. Camerons Nichte Julia Jackson (1846–1895), später Mutter von Virginia Woolf, verkörpert darin das präraffaelitische Ideal weiblicher Schönheit. In dieser Aufnahme, entstanden kurz vor Jacksons erster Ehe, zeigt Cameron eine berührende Mischung aus Verletzlichkeit, Würde und innerer Stärke.

Camerons bewusste Unschärfe, die fein modulierte Lichtführung und ihr Gespür für emotionale Tiefe machten sie zu einer der ersten Fotografinnen, die das Medium als künstlerischen Ausdruck begriff.
